September 23, 2003 By: Skylar Rhodes Rosemary Reed - informal wedding dressRosemary E. Reed, a graduate of Temple University, majoring in history, lives in Washington, DC. She is the owner of a small shop, Toast and Strawberries, located in the Dupont Circle. She is an adjunct professor of fashion merchandising at Prince Georges Community College and at Howard University. Over the years, government agencies, schools and social groups have asked her to produce fashion shows. To add interest during Black History, she researched and profiled African American dressmakers and designers who touch history, i.e. Elizabeth Keckley, who did designs for Mrs. Lincoln, and Ann Lowe who did the debutante and wedding dress for Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. "I assume if I owned a restaurant that I would have written a book about African American chefs," said Rosemary. "These stories in THE THREADS OF TIME, THE FABRIC OF HISTORY are informative and inspiring for everyone, young and old, all nationalities. Truly American struggles, but relevant for all." Ms. Reed Miller used to work as a columnist and journalist. She contributed articles to the Daily Gleaner in Jamaica, W. I., Washington Afro-American newspapers, Miami Daily News, and Miami Herald, the New York Tribune, Fairchild Publications, and The Washington Star. She was a columnist for the Amsterdam News.
