Fashion students shine with very informal wedding dresses

Two second-year Fashion Design & Marketing students from Allenby Campus Centurion did the campus proud when they were chosen as finalists in two prestigious competitions.

Angelique Lembish has been selected as one of four finalists in the Small Business Start-up category of the Foschini Annual Design Awards 2003. This year the theme is 80s reinvented and Angelique entered three sketches and after being selected as a finalist, her garments were flown to Cape Town for the judging. The winner in each category will be announced at a gala event at the end of September in Cape Town.

They say your job must be something that you love and since she loves shopping, Angelique decided a career in the fashion industry would be just perfect.

Yolandi de Wet was selected as one of the ten finalists in the Elle Bridex SA 2003 Young Designer Competition. Her design was a wedding dress fashioned from sixty-four dishcloths. After modelling for two years in Europe where she was exposed to the cultures of Greece, Portugal and Italy and the dynamics of the fashion industry, she decided that she would rather focus more on the designer side.
